Music Muse: The Beatles

This post is being on hold since September 2012. I really want to make a sketch of four of them but I can't trust my own capability until, now. Also, these are three paragraphs that I wrote back then...

"I started to hear several of their songs in 2009. A friend of mine introduced them to me and he might be never knew that from that time I've got my biggest crush to a music band. It was never happened before! It felt like I've jumped to the higher step of music appreciation. I have some favorite songs back then but The Beatles give me another experience. It's been four years and I always hear their songs and slowly became more attached and attached. I can't spent a day without singing one of their songs, I even start to sing eveytime I want to sing!

Recently, I've watched all 8 episodes of The Beatles Anthology. I've appreciated them more because they told us how the songs being made from their own experience. I really wish to have a time machine so I could join the girls that chased them crazily in the street, shouted and cried in their concert, enthusiastically watched their movie in the theater, and of course, stood on the Saville Row to watch their very last concert at the rooftop. I can't help myself when 'Free as A Bird' video clip being played at the last episodes. I cried. Hard. Even when I typing this sentence, my tears want to fall down.

How could I became so emotional? Simply, their songs always could expressed my feelings. With a Little Help From My Friend and Here Comes The Sun can always heal when I feel down. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band and I'm The Walrus make me fall down into an artsy imagination. Black Bird reminds me to keep humble. I will flood up this blog if I continue to appreciate them, haha..."

In conclusion, The Beatles is my muse to be more adventurous and brave to be what I am to be.

Craving for Traditional Way

I'm struggling with my thoughts lately. I always peeking for the newest illustration project on behance.com and instantly amused with Steve Simpson works. Since I've been working with Adobe Illustrator for almost 4 months, I found Steve's work is passing my expectation in digital illustration. I want to explore more but it's hard too keep up with my mood-swing. So when I start to give up in my work, I take a deep breath, close my eyes, have a short daydreaming, take a long stare at incredible illustration in behance.com and deviantart. Then, I get my mood back and start to work again.

But then, I found this great manual illustration by Tetiana Kartasheva and I took a really long time to adore her illustration mood. It's very clean but fully beautiful at a same time. When I found out that she made an illustration book for her graduation project, I just very disappointed with myself. I made my own for graduation project too but how it came out in very rough shape was below my expectation. I know that I never want to give more although all of the plan was already in my head. So, what I need more right now is courage and an 'iron will'. And yeah, right until now, I still want to and crave to draw manually. I feel more close and intimate with my works when I did it manually so I really appreciate artists that still do their artworks in traditional way. But, many artists that could translate their skill in digital form better than in the manual way, Kali Ciesemier for example. So, whatever the medium, as long as the artists could translate what they want to create visually, it will turn out as a great artwork.

And I believe that I love drawing. I've tried to do something else, reading, make a craft stuff, writing, taking photos, and creating video, but still I can left drawing behind everything else :')

A calm song also really helps a lot. I personally like a song with dreamy tunes and not really attached to the lyrics, since most of them are about love . But a dreamy love song is quite helping to make my mind relaxed for a while. My favourite lately is Landon Pigg's Falling in Love at Coffee Shop. Never fails to make me smile when hearing this song. When I want to get a mood booster, FUN.'s Some Nights (although it's a song about war, but the melody is very catchy) or Carry On is really cheered me up :D

I wish you all could pass your hard times when struggling with your life choices... And whatever your choice is, never leave your dreams, never leave what you love to do, because that's the reason why you have a meaningful life.

Three Weeks to Countdown

I've recently passed my visual final project presentation. I have things to change with the illustration and the colors but not that major problems. 10th July is my final project presentation day and I'm still on the half of chapter six from all eight chapters for making illustration of "Around the World in 80 Days" novel by Jules Verne. Although the date has already been postpone for the second time, I'm still drawing with a speed of turtle. But, better moving than just staring at your problems! ;)

I have noticed that there are JAL. and Rachel Gaby that already joined this site! Thank you, girls! It's been so long since a person that I don't know started to subscribe my blogs :') I know that what I shared here might be not that useful or good for other people since I'm just writing about my day and share something that I drew. Knowing that other people seeing this blog from the statistic already makes me happy, but having a new people interested joining this site is a blessing :)

I really want to post my drawings that out of my final project topic but I still searching for a good time to work on it. So... I guess see you again, every body! Have a nice day! :D

Back to the Past

Found this unique clock at a board games store. It just popped out to my sight than the other shiny cards in that room. I just though that I was in the middle of crowded train station at 1950s. Wondering that this clock had been seen many things from the past and became a part of history.
